Our vegan, bi-carb free DIY natural deodorant paste is a dream to put on and leaves underarms soft, protected and odour free. Our DIY natural deodorant recipe combines soothing and ultra-moisturising cocoa and shea butters, coconut oil to eliminate bacteria, yeast and fungi, with vegan candelilla wax to protect, and arrowroot and kaolin white clay to absorb moisture.

    Ingredients

You will also need a saucepan, glass jug, spatula and a 120ml glass jar.

    Method

    1. Add the cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil and candelilla wax into a glass jug. Set the jug into a saucepan filled with approximately 6cm of water. Turn heat to medium and stir the contents in the jug until they melt.
    2. Once melted, remove the jug from heat and allow to cool for about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
    3. Add the arrowroot powder and white kaolin clay to the jug and blend using a spatula, squashing lumps as you go. Continue mixing until you have a smooth, lump free consistency, like runny custard. Stir in the essential oils.
    4. Place in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to harden slightly. Keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t harden too much. You will need to whisk it shortly.
    5. Remove from the fridge and whisk the mixture rapidly. Remember to scrape down the sides and from the bottom of the jar. If it needs further hardening, place it back in the fridge for another 3-5 minutes. Remove and whisk again. You should have a thick but creamy paste.
    6. Scoop the mixture into your glass jar. Do not place the lid on straight away as condensation may build up and spoil the DIY natural deodorant. Leave to cool and set completely before putting the lid on.

    How to Use

Using dry, clean fingers or an applicator, apply a thin layer to underarms after showering and rub until it is invisible.

Store in a cool dry place out of sunlight. Use within 6 months.

This recipe makes enough to fill a 120ml glass jar.

Tip: By using a clean applicator rather than you fingers, you will help prevent the spread of bacteria and increase the shelf life of your deodorant.
