Think again... What's the value behind the price tag?
It's often said that eco-friendly choices cost more.
We're here to dispel any blanket misconception!
While some products may have a higher price, we encourage you take a second look at the true value.
What seems like a "bulk buy" might in fact be mostly water or fillers, which means you need to use more.
A high quality item that 'lasts for life', may cost more at first, but it won't break easily and need replacing.
Sometimes, it is simply the brand and fancy marketing that you are paying for.
Look behind the bubbles!
We'll let Persephone take it from here.
"I am a convert, will never buy anything else. The value for money (160 washes!) and minimal packaging are wins, obviously, but on top of that, my dishes come out clean and my machine doesn't get gunked up like it used to with the supermarket brands. 5/5 would absolutely recommend to anyone who will listen"
Are you paying for water?
If the first ingredient is water - the answer is yes! That means the bottle of body wash or shampoo won't last as long as the concentrated alternatives found at Biome.
Not to mention all the harsh synthetic surfactants (detergent), fragrances and perfumes you are also paying for!
Liquid soap that is truly soap (and not detergent) is made from saponified plant oils.
The light touch of wood
A high quality wooden brush with wooden pins and a natural rubber cushion is a beauty to treasure.
No petroleum plastic or landfill needed, and biodegradable when it's useful life is over.
Plastic and metal brushes generate static causing frizz and hair breakage, while wooden pins are gentle on your scalp ensuring safe detangling and natural oil distribution.
Is it pure marketing?
A simple ingredient like rose hip oil is packaged with fancy branding and marketed to make you think it's worth paying more.
The same goes for "pink clay face masks". At Biome, you can buy 50g of pink clay for $9.95, while the same ingredient packaged as a "face mask" can cost $40! Shea butter is another ingredient that is vastly overpiced in other stores.
Same ingredients, labelled differently!
Check out the list of ingredients on synthetic body wash through to laundry liquid and cleansers, and you'll find many similarities (see example at the end)!
An eco-alternative, simple castile soap, can be used all around the home to help save you money on buying multiple products.

It’s better value - period!
Did you know that with proper care and maintence, a menstrual cup can last up to 10 years, only setting you back $40-$55.
Plus, imagine the waste you'll be saving - up to 15,000 pads or tampons across your menstruating life.
Thank you for taking the time to think again.
Stay tuned as we expose even more eco choices that are better value!
INGREDIENTS UN-WASHED
Compare the ingredients in a liquid hand wash and a dishwashing liquid.
In summary, water + surfactants (the detergent that bubbles, likely made from palm oil) + essential oils + preservatives. The difference is that the hand wash has some aloe, glycerin & sunflower oil for moisturising to counter the stripping effect of the detergent.
Liquid hand wash:

Dishwashing liquid:
Aqua (water), caprylyl/capryl glucoside (plant-based), coco-glucoside (plant-based), alcohol, citric acid, glyceryl caprylate (plant-based), essential oils, xanthan gum, acacia senegal gum, sodium phytate, limonene, citral, linalool, citronellol.
