End of life: How to compost your toothbrush
This toothbrush is designed to minimise waste — and with a little effort, most of it can return to the earth.
Compostable handle:
The bamboo handle is fully biodegradable and suitable for home composting.
Bristles:
Made from plant-based Nylon 1010 (castor oil), these are not biodegradable nor home compostable. They will eventually return to the earth but exceed the time required to be classified as biodegradable.
Staples:
Like most toothbrushes (including plastic ones), small aluminium staples hold the bristles in place.
To compost:
- Use pliers to pull out the bristles from the head
- This will also remove the aluminium staples
- Compost the bamboo handle
- Bristles go in the rubbish bin
