Our DIY everything balm combines soothing calendula, nourishing cocoa and shea butters, and moisturising coconut and apricot kernel oils to soothe, heal, moisturise and protect skin and hair. This handy allrounder can be used in a range of ways. You might like to use it to soothe dry skin on heels, elbows or knees, as a conditioning lip balm, to soften, smooth and tame flyaways, and to groom your beard. It is quick and easy to make, multipurpose and will last a long time, saving you money and waste. We love a multipurpose product here at Biome. DIY Everything Balm

Ingredients

Method

  1. Place the apricot kernel oil into a small glass mason jar and add the calendula petals. Ensue the petals are fully submerged. Put a lid on the jar, shake and leave to infuse overnight. The next day, strain well. You should be left with a pretty yellow coloured oil. Leave aside.
  2. Place another glass jar in a saucepan with about 6cm of water in it. To the jar, add the coconut oil, beeswax beads, cocoa and shea butter. Turn heat to medium and stir until melted.
  3. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the calendula infused apricot kernel oil, lavender and frankincense essential oils.
  4. Carefully pour into your chosen containers. We have used this tin. Allow to cool completely before closing the lid or sealing.

How to Use

This DIY everything balm is a handy all rounder. Apply this balm to cuticles, to help shape eyebrows, as a lip balm, or smooth a little in the tips of your hair to tame frizz or add gloss. This balm is great for dry heels, elbows, knees and the backs of hands. You can also use it to tame beards and moustaches. Store in a cool dry area out of direct sunlight. This recipe makes enough to fill approximately two 130ml tins.
