Lemon, Grapefruit & Poppy Seed Bath Melts Recipe
Ingredients
- 30g beeswax
- 30g cocoa butter
- 15g shea butter
- 15g jojoba oil
- 15 drops lemon essential oil
- 15 drops grapefruit essential oil
- Sprinkle of poppy seeds (optional)
Method
- Place the beeswax, cocoa butter and shea butter into a glass jar and set it down into a saucepan filled with about 6cm of water.
- Turn heat to medium to melt the ingredients in the jar.
- Once melted, add the jojoba oil and stir. Add your essential oils.
- Sprinkle some poppy seeds into the bottom of each mould (optional). Carefully pour the hot mixture into each. Leave for a few minutes to cool slightly before moving into the fridge or freezer to set completely.
- Once set, remove your bath melts from the mould and store in a sealed glass jar ready to use.
How To Use
Run a warm bath and hop in. Take one bath melt and rub all over your skin. It will slowly melt on contact, leaving a layer of moisturising, nourishing oils. The poppy seeds will have a gentle exfoliating effect at the same time. Ensure you have a bath mat to stand on when leaving the bath, as you may be slippery from the oils. Pat yourself dry – don't rub, as you want to keep the nourishing oils on your skin. This recipe made enough to approximately fill one small silicone mould. Bath melts are designed to melt at body temperature, so store them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Use within 6 months. Tip: Have some fun with this bath melts recipe - instead of adding poppy seeds, you could use dried flower petals and herbs instead! Recipe by Nancy George.Disclaimer
