Make your own nourishing lemon and rose massage bars - Biome Naked Beauty Bar

Massage bars are your one-stop-shop for moisturising and pampering your skin. Massage the nourishing oils and butters into skin that needs some TLC, especially elbows, hands and feet. A bar can also be melted into warm water for a calming and moisturising bath.

Beeswax binds all the ingredients together and makes sure they stick to your skin, so the oils and butters soak in. For a vegan version, you can use Candelilla wax (approximately half the quantity).

Cocoa Butter softens and soothes skin, heals dry and damaged patches and may help soothe any irritation.

Shea Oil contains Vitamin E, which moisturises and protects newly-nourished skin.

Jojoba Oil is an easily absorbed, nourishing moisturiser that also promotes healing and balances sebum production.

Rose Geranium Oil has a lovely floral scent. It can relax the mind and calm anxiety.

Lemon Oil has a light, tangy scent and intermingles well with the rose and lime aromas.

Lime Oil is sweet and tangy, complementing the other aromatherapy scents to give you a calming, floral massage bar.

Make Your Own Nourishing Lemon & Rose Massage Bars

    Ingredients

    Method

    1. Add the beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil into a medium size mason jar or glass jug.
    2. Place the jar (or jug) into a saucepan filled with approximately 6cm of water on medium-low heat until the butters and wax has melted.
    3. Remove jar from the heat and add essential oils.
    4. Place mixture into moulds. You can use any type of mould that you like as long as it’s heatproof. Silicone moulds work well. Let it cool slightly before putting it in the fridge to set.
    5. Once set, remove the massage bars from the moulds. Store in a glass mason jar in a cool place out of direct sunlight.

    How To Use

If you are using small 2.5cm ice cube or chocolate moulds, you will make around 6-8 massage bars. Larger moulds will yield fewer bars.

Use this convenient solid body massage bar to rub in on areas you feel need moisturising. Works wonders on hands, knees and elbows.

Use as a moisturising treatment in the shower or drop one into your bath for a nourishing, relaxing and calming experience.

Take care getting out of the bath or shower to avoid slipping from the butters and waxes. Gently pat yourself dry when done.

Tip: Pop your solid massage bar into a reusable container when going on trips rather taking a liquid oil for convenience and to prevent potential leakage.
