Enjoy a lifetime of cooking with your healthy, non toxic, forever renewable non-stick iron pan - with a non-stick surface you can trust because you've built it yourself!

When seasoned adequately, Solidteknics cookware will be non-stick without resorting to synthetic coatings. Seasoning can be reapplied at home, so pan will never lose it's stick-free cooking. Your cookware has had an initial seasoning in the factory, but will require more when you get it home. Please see the video below on how to complete this process (seasoning and cleaning instructions are also included with pan).

Solidteknics provides excellent post-purchase support for if you need advice on using and caring for your pan.

you are making a difference:

  • Break the cycle of disposable synthetic imports that end up in landfill.
  • One-time purchase to save money and resources - made for multi-generational use, each pan engraved with the date of manufacture for collectibility.
  • Non-toxic and sustainable alternative to synthetic non-stick coatings - most non-stick cookware, such as Teflon, is made with PTFE and other harmful toxins and heavy metals that off-gas when heated.

features:

  • 30cm Dual-Handle Wok is 2.5mm thick, and has a flat bottom and high walls to keep contents in when tossing.
  • Highly conductive on any heat source - induction, gas, ceramic, halogen, electric, oven, open fire.
  • Australian wrought iron (or low carbon mild steel) is better quality than steel cookware from China, which has a high carbon content, is not as durable, and does not conduct heat as well.
  • One-piece, seamless and rivetless for better durability and hygiene - no food or dirt getting caught in the cracks.
  • Cooks like cast iron but is half the weight, for easy maneuverability and handling.
  • Thick iron cooks and heats evenly without warping.
  • Broad concave handle allows for more control while cooking.
  • Vented handle reduces the heat transfer from the pan to your hand.

about Solidteknics:

Founded by Australian-born, international chef equipment engineer/innovator, Mark Henry. 30 years experience in diverse manufacturing and patented innovations designed to last for multiple generations, such as Füri knives.  Mark says: "I'm tired of all the disposable consumer junk out there. We won't be just innovating, patenting and growing sustainable Australian-made innovations, but following a more holistic philosophy: an integration of personal and business life... and a strong contribution to the community now, and for future generations."

*warranty:

Solidteknics offers a multi-century warranty for all defects related to materials or manufacturing occuring during normal cooking.  Note this is a manufacturing warranty for defects and is not valid for improper use, lack of maintenance, or 'change of heart'. For the warranty to remain valid, Solidteknics seasoning and care instructions must be followed.

If there is a surface seasoning or rust spotting problem, simply clean and re-season.

dimensions/materials:

Length 45cm (including handles) / Diameter 30cm / Diameter of base 15cm / Height of bowl 8cm.

Care for your pan:

No dishwasher.  No soap.  Wash under hot water and scrub with a brush.  Scrape anything stuck with a wooden spatula to remove food while preserving the non-food black seasoning. You can use metal implements and scourers, but note that it may remove some of the seasoning. In which case, you will simply need to re-season the surface.

How to Season Your Pan:

Seasoning has ben done since the age of iron to provide low-stick ability and corrosion resistance. Applying thin layers of oil and heating to its smoke point, breaks down the oil, allowing it to bond and layer on the steel pan surface (fat polymerisation).  The surface is forever renewable, so if you make mistakes, or the seasoning is removed through cleaning, you simply start building again - unlike Teflon and synthetic-coated pans that are useless once the surface is scratched and damaged.

Don't expect a slick, even surface like Teflon.  A seasoned pan is superior in health and sustainability, but it will be more 'earthy' and less visually perfect than synthetic non stick coatings.  The surface will depend on how you season and what you use the pan for.  These are the pans that you see used by restaurant chefs.

You can oven season, stove-top season, or old-school season while you cook. Please follow instructions supplied with your pan.  Solidteknics also offers comprehensive seasoning and care instructions on its website www.solidteknics.com/ironcare/

Georgia

I absolutely love this wok - I have four solidteknics pans and this is the one I use the most. I haven't owned a wok in years and I didn't know what I was missing out on. I cook not only stir-fries but pasta and noodle dishes and anything that I require depth with. Like all cast iron it requires a good initial oven seasoning and repeated stove-top seasoning but this only takes a few minutes each time. I've bought this as a gift 3 times and they all love it too.

Don't waste your money

Doesn't cook like cast iron - doesn't heat evenly (I am using a gas stove too). Never holds a natural non stick coating - flakes off in the food, and the pan rusts all the time. The handles curve downwards towards the flame so they are always too hot to touch - bad design. I had high expectations of this pan and no longer use it. My cheap chinese wok retains a great natural non stick and requires very little care. And my le creuset cast iron pans and even the cheaper cast iron from the camping shops are all great. This one gets rave reviews from all the bloggers who get paid to promote it.
