In 'Everything You Need to Know About the Uluru Statement From the Heart', Megan Davis and George Williams use their extensive knowledge of the Australian Constitution to detail the lead up and circumstances that lead to the Uluru Statement. Crucially, they outline the effects and benefits that an Indigenous voice to Parliament will have on the nation.

Features

Professor Megan Davis is a Constitutional Law expert at the UNSW. She researches in the fields of public law, specialising in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Law, Constitutional Law, International Law and Human Rights Law. Professor Davis has been recognised by many bodies to be an extremely knowledgable and influential individual in the space of Indigenous rights and in 2017 was elected by the UN as an expert in these areas.

George Williams AO has written and edited 37 books, across fields such as constitutional law and human rights. He has also worked as a barrister in the High Court of Australia on cases in the areas of freedom of speech, freedom from racial discrimination and the rule of law. He is extremely knowledgeable, and often appears in Australian media outlets to comment on and analyse legal matters, write columns and review books.

In Everything You Need to Know About the Uluru Statement From the Heart this pair team up to give a comprehensive and imperative analysis of the events and circumstances leading up to and surrounding the Uluru statement. The book begins by detailing the drafting of the Australian Constitution. Subsequently, Professor Davis and Williams dissect the achievements of the 1967 Australian Referendum and how this lead up to the Uluru Statement in 1967. Perhaps most importantly for Australians young and old, and those with an interest in human and indigenous rights, they finally explain how the Uluru Statement From the Heart will benefit the nation for countless years to come.
