Heat treated bamboo brings the natural wax in the bamboo to the outside which seals it against the weather.
Exterior Gen-Eco plywood sourced only from sustainable plantation timber, coated in decking oil to protect in from weather.
The centre block has also been sealed on the outside to extend its life outdoors, but the drilled holes for the bees make no contact with this at all.

Brand story
There are over 1650 known species of Native Bees in Australia and most are Solitary Bees. Solitary bees play a vital role in pollinating our native flora and are also increasingly being valued as a pollinator for agricultural crops.

Most bees, including huge carpenter bees, resin bees and leaf cutter bees, of which there are many species, are solitary in the sense that every female is fertile, and typically inhabits a nest she constructs herself. There is no division of labor so these nests lack queens and worker bees for these species.

    Good quality

I was going to opt for a cheaper bee hotel, but I’m glad I went with this one. It seems very solid and well made.

    Beautiful bee hotel

It looks lovely and beautifully constructed, and my mother will appreciate the gift. But the only thing is that many of the smaller bamboo sticks are sort of closed up, and I’ve had to poke my own holes in them. (I would like there to be as many holes as possible to begin with.)

The picture online has all bamboo pieces as hollow. In fact, I think some of the sticks in this one have been put in backwards, and the option of poking a hole isn’t even possible. Little bit disappointed.
