Finding Our Humanity. Discover an uncommon journey into what the great apes, our tribal past, conservation and a more philosophical approach to life can teach us about our humanity. With insights on the evolution of the ape-human mind, our shared biological and cultural histories, this book presents an alternative perspective and deeper understanding of our place in the world and what it means to be truly human.

Features

Written by Leif Cocks, Finding Our Humanity: An Inner Journey Towards Understanding Ourselves and Our Way Forward combines science, philosophy and real life stories from both the author's own inner journey and those of the other great apes he has met along the way, it also offers a compelling case for a shift in how we see, think and act in the world. A shift which could change the future for not just ourselves, but for all living beings. Fascinating and enlightening, the book points to the practical ways in which we, as individuals and collectively, can transcend our biological and cultural histories to create a higher understanding, happiness and connection with nature. Perhaps just as importantly Finding Our Humanity offers an open invitation to us all to expand the boundaries of our current understanding of what humanity is and how it is expressed. Which may just change the way you see, think and act in the world forever.

All profits from the sale of the book will go to The Orangutan Project.

    Interesting, but...

Leif Cocks seems to grasp orangutan trauma but seems to dismiss the fact that humans can be traumatised and "be cheerful" may not be valid advice or the way to find humanity for some people etc. The parts about how we are similar to the great apes and his experiences with orangutans are interesting. I have supported The Orangutan Project since 2017 and will continue to do so.
