THE NAKED BEAUTY BAR™

Biome's Naked Beauty Bar™, is Australia's first retail destination dedicated to helping you understand the ingredients in your products, and to get back-to-basics creating skin care and cleaning products with no toxins and no wasted packaging.

Making your own natural beauty products at home is an easy and affordable way to significantly reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals. Our Naked Natural Beauty Bar cuts harmful chemicals and packaging out of cosmetics and beauty products, offering you a completely natural and zero waste DIY alternative.

"If you are struggling to wade through the greenwashing of big name brands to find skin care that is truly all natural then you can trust Biome Eco Stores to steer you in the right direction.  Or better yet they can help you make your own skin care products with their revolutionary concept of the Naked Beauty Bar.  I loved using this feature in store." ~ Leah from Skin and Satori.

What is the Naked Beauty Bar?

The Naked Beauty Bar was formulated to support our zero waste ethos and provide a toxin-free and environmentally friendly way to purchase natural beauty products.  We offer all the pure ingredients you need to make your own body care and cleaning products, along with a huge collection of DIY recipes tried and tested by our team.

We have researched and sourced sustainable and high quality ingredients including clay, salt, avocado oil, shea and cocoa butter, honey, vinegar, sugar, soap berries, charcoal, essential oils, petals and herbs. Using these ingredients, you can make a multitude of zero-waste and 100% natural beauty and skin care products at home including lip balm, body scrub, deodorant, toothpaste, face masks and more.

Wherever possible, our ingredients are Australian-made or sourced. For example, we do not offer Himalayan Salt when we have wonderful Australian salts with equal or better properties.  And, we ensure that ingredients are not the cheaply made versions that often contain harmful fillers such as the aluminium often found in bi carb.

Naked = just bare ingredients, without packaging

Natural = 100% naturally occurring ingredients, not synthetic or human made

Why Naked Natural Beauty?

Many commercial beauty products are loaded with toxic ingredients and when used expose our bodies to harmful toxins, and pollute our oceans and waterways. The inexplicable rise of certain health conditions along with research conducted on the health impacts of some chemicals raises concerns about the safety of ingredients in chemical produced personal care products.

The unsystematically monitored and tested beauty industry selects from a palette of over 12,500 chemical ingredients to produce a range of products with the average beauty product containing between 15 to 50 ingredients. Each product formulation varies slightly, however, most cosmetics contain a concoction of ingredients including fragrances, emulsifiers, emollients, colouring agents, preservatives, thickening agents, and pH stabilisers.

The main chemicals of concern used in the production of cosmetics include Phthalates, Parabens, Talcum Powder, Nanoparticles, Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde Donors, Lead Acetate, Coal Tar, UV Filters, Triclosan, Resorcinol, Toluene and Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA). The production and disposal of these chemicals affect our environment with most beauty waste being washed down the drains, threatening marine biodiversity and the quality of our oceans and waterways.

“The beauty bar is a great way to get to know what ingredients go into our skincare and it’s a package free option for those wanting to reduce plastic consumption or live zero waste. They have reusable jars in store available to purchase or you can bring your own to use.” ~ Kira from The Green Hub

“If we’d been asked to picture heaven merely a week ago, it would’ve looked similar to Scoop. Overflowing barrels of wholesome, natural ingredients, cute serve-yourself mason jars—it’s essentially a candy bar for the health-conscious and it didn’t get much better than that. But when we got word that the bulk philosophy had made its way to beauty, with the launch of a DIY beauty buffet, our idea of heaven became much more elaborate.” ~ Georgia from SporteLuxe

“We're set for bulk, refillable foods now, but I've struggled to find somewhere I could fill my own jars with the ingredients to make the DIY beauty product recipes I've found. So I was excited to be invited to check out the new Naked Beauty Bar at Biome's store in Brisbane. This is the first of their eco-friendly stores to include a dedicated refill station, along with recipes and pre-made, pre-filled jars. No plastic in sight either!” ~ Ashleigh from Shifted Style

"When Biome Eco Stores launched a DIY skin care section of their website I was so excited. They have lots of great recipes on their website for zero waste, plastic-free, natural beauty products as well as selling all the ingredients you need to make them. If you’re considering a foray into the world of DIY natural beauty products I’d definitely recommend looking through Biome’s recipes to see if any take your fancy." ~ Lauren from Lauren Lately
