Biologi

Biologi skincare brand markets products made from Australian plant extracts. On 23 October 2023, the Federal Court of Australia ruled that Biologi Pty Ltd, Plant Extracts Pty Ltd and Ross MacDougald had made misleading claims under Australian Consumer Law about Biologi products and ingredients.

The products that Biome sold that are affected by this case are:

Biologi Bk Face & Eye Serum (made from Kakadu Plum) - claimed that it contains high levels of Vitamin C, when it does not.

Biologi Bf Restore Face & Body Serum (made from Finger Lime) - claimed that it contains Vitamin C, when it does not.

The Court also ruled that Biologi was misleading in making representations that its products contained only one ingredient and contained only pure plant, when in fact its skin care products contain additives, and are diluted.

It is not clear which products this relates to, but in addition to the above, this may also affect these Biologi products that claimed to be one ingredient:

Biologi Bd Luminosity Face Serum (made from Davidson Plum extract)

Biologi By Wild Harvested Blackberry Seed Oil

Biologi Br Organic Rosehip Oil

We have removed the Biologi range from sale at least until Biologi resolves its ingredient transparency and truthfulness.

Our understanding is that the Court has ordered Biologi to publish Corrective statements on its website and social media.  Below are the two that relate to the products sold at Biome.

Should you have any questions about this situation, please contact shop@biome.com.au and we will assist you.
