Join Karen to learn the technique of making textile coiled rope baskets. You’ll receive a kit with the rope coil already started so you can get underway. You’ll use a weaving needle and hemp cord to secure the rope coils that have been wrapped with recycled fabric strips. You’ll determine the size and shape of the basket as you stitch the rope coils. Making a textile coiled basket is a great way to up-cycle fabrics from your stash or make use of bed linen, table cloths or even pre-loved clothing.

Karen will supply a variety of pre-cut recycled fabric strips for your use however you are encouraged to bring along your own lightweight cotton or even an old pair of denim jeans that can be torn or cut into long strips.

This workshop gives you the starting point and techniques for making a fabric coiled rope basket. The process of completing your basket will take longer than the time allocated in the workshop. You will be taking your project home and we encourage you to take additional fabric strips and hemp cord to complete your basket in your own time.

When: Sunday October 20th, 11am - 3pm
Where: Biome Paddington, Biome Paddington, 2 Latrobe Tce. Brisbane. Car parking behind our building.
Cost: $105 per person
