Biome Code of Ethics

1         WE RESPECT EACH OTHER AND ENGENDER A CULTURE OF TRUST

For us at Biome, it is the responsibility of every staff member to treat all stakeholders  with respect and to communicate honestly and openly to engender an environment of  trust.

2         WE SUPPORT OUR TEAM AND FOSTER A DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT

At Biome, we recognise the value of each individual, support our staff and enable team members to conduct themselves in a manner aligned with our stated values.

We welcome people of any gender, race, ethnicity, size, age, nationality, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, ability level, religion, culture or political opinion. We treat each other fairly and our decisions and actions shall not be based on       discriminatory practices.

3         WE FOCUS ON LOCAL PRODUCTION AND OWNERSHIP

We endeavour to partner with organisations that focus on local production and/or local ownership and empowerment.

Biome takes the following into consideration when working with suppliers and manufacturers: where a product is made and the associated working conditions, whether the organisation is owned by women or underrepresented populations and requires proof of certification where appropriate.

4         OUR ACTIONS ARE DRIVEN BY OUR COMMITMENT TO  ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

We believe that the collective power of individual actions adds up to significant change – and significant change is needed to combat Climate Change. We exist to help people live in a way that is consistent with their own values as well as our shared commitment to environmental sustainability.

5         WE MANAGE OUR RESOURCES RESPONSIBLY

We minimise the amount of resources we consume, implement the ideal of the circular economy where we can and take action to reduce our organisation’s footprint.

6         WE PROVIDE PRODUCTS THAT MEET OUR STRICT STANDARDS

We are committed to providing our customers with products and services that are aligned with our values and that meet our strict standards of ethical and sustainable living.

Our products and services are: free from all known or suspected toxins, cruelty free, made without exploitation or harm to people or animals, certified organic natural fibres or are hemp/linen which is grown and processed without chemicals and last         longer than the available alternatives.

It is the responsibility of every team member to be alert to any possible deficiencies in a product or service.

7         WE ARE HONEST WITH OUR LABELLING

We commit to honest labelling – we verify all claims and list all ingredients. We communicate in a clear manner so that customers can make informed purchasing decisions, especially in relation to the values they care about. We work hard to correctly represent our products or services when advertising or marketing them. We reassess all products whenever new information, changes or claims are revealed.

8         WE COLLABORATE WITH ORGANISATIONS ALIGNED WITH OUR    VALUES

We collaborate with organisations that we respect and that align with our values. We endeavour to have a shared understanding of our respective contributions, expectations and responsibilities.

9         WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY, BALANCING PROFIT AND PURPOSE

Like our name ‘Biome’, we are all an interconnected community of plants and animals existing in harmony. We partner with individuals and organisations to support those pursuing the common good.
