With the Mad Millie fermenting crock you can make your own fermented foods including sauerkraut, kimchi and other fermented vegetables.  Fermenting vegetables preserves them whilst also locking in healthy enzymes and probiotics, with the bonus of being delicious to boot!

At its basis, most lacto-fermented foods are nothing more than whole, chopped, sliced or grated vegetables placed in a brine of salt and water with a weight to weight it down for a period of time at room temperature to let the beneficial bacteria develop.

The important thing to keep in mind is that the vegetables should stay submerged all the time to prevent mold from forming. This fermenting crock has a moat around the top which seals out oxygen and comes with a pair of high fired stoneware weights to help press on the vegetables and keep them under the brine at all times.

This 3L crock will fit two medium sized cabbages and makes two x 1L jars full of sauerkraut or kimchi.  A batch of properly fermented kimchi or sauerkraut will lasts up to three months when stored in the fridge.

Standard: Once the order has been shipped, it will arrive in 2 to 7 days depending on your destination. Standard Australian shipping is free on orders over $60. Shipping for orders under $60 is $9.95.

Express: place orders by noon AEST. Orders generally arrive next day if you are in the Australia Post Next Day Delivery network and subject to Australia Post fulfilling its guarantee. Only available for orders up to 4kg (excludes bulky/heavy items such as Bokashi bins, cleaning products and large size items to areas outside Brisbane unless you wish to pay the total Australia Post Express Post charge).

Click & Collect: simply choose your store pick up location at checkout and we will arrange for your order to be there within 3 to 4 working days (1 working day for Milton warehouse) for free. Please wait until you receive an email or text to advise that your goods are ready to be collect.

International: Flat rate shipping from $15 for orders up to 2kg. We ship to NZ, USA, Canada, UK/Ireland, China, Europe (EU) and other countries. International orders are not subject to sales tax, so most prices are less 10% when purchased from overseas. The final cost of shipping is shown at checkout once you have added your delivery location.

Fun to experiment

It is working really well so far. It looks nice in the kitchen. I didn't like touching the weights. They felt rough. Otherwise its a good one!
