Apricot Kernel Oil is a light carrier oil and a great moisturiser. Its high linoleic acid content also makes it ideal for aiding troubled skin.

Cocoa Butter softens and soothes skin, heals dry and damaged patches, and may help soothe irritation.

Lavender is antiseptic and antibacterial. It is also a calming scent for the mind. Rosemary is antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic and antiviral, making it a potent aid to troubled skin. The scent is also a great energiser. Oats are incredibly nourishing for the skin - they moisturise, heal, soothe, and fight dry and itchy patches.

Rosemary & Lavender Bath Melts

Ingredients

Method

  1. Place the cocoa butter into a glass jar and set it down into a saucepan filled with about 6cm of water.
  2. Put the saucepan on medium heat and melt the butter with the warm water. Once melted, add the apricot kernel oil and mix in to combine.
  3. Grind the dried lavender, dried rosemary and oats down to a very fine powder with the electric coffee grinder. Remove any large pieces.
  4. Put the ground up ingredients into the melted mixture and stir. Add essential oils.
  5. Pour mixture into moulds and place in the fridge or freezer to set. Once set, remove and store in a sealed glass jar ready to use.

How To Use

Drop 1 bath melt into the bath while running the warm water. Hop into the bath and watch it slowly melt, leaving a moisturising layer on your skin.

Ensure you have a bath mat to stand on when leaving the bath, as you may be slippery from the oils.

Pat yourself dry - don't rub, as you want to keep the nourishing oils on your skin.

This recipe makes approx. 4-5 bath melts, depending of the size of your moulds. Store out of sunlight in a cool, dry place. Use within 12 months.

These will become soft upon handling or melt in warm weather, so keep in the fridge if desired.
