How to keep veggies fresh in the fridge for longer - The Swag

Has the War On Waste show on the ABC inspired you to reduce your food waste each week? The Swag is a useful tool to help you do just that, helping to keep you fresh fruit and veggies fresher for longer.

Unfortunately, as we know, when food rots in landfill, it gives off methane, a greenhouse gas which is 25 times more potent than the carbon pollution from car exhausts. Plus, when you throw away un-eaten food, even into the compost, you are wasting the water, fuel and other resources it took to get that product from the farm to your home.

    Introducing The Swag

The Swag is a non toxic, environmentally-friendly, sustainable, machine-washable, breathable bag, which helps you to keep your food fresher for longer.

Storing fruit and veggies in The Swag, as opposed to storing them in a plastic produce bag or on their own in the crisper or fridge, prolongs freshness. The Swag can help you to reduce your household’s food wastage each week, not to mention how much better it is for our environment and your heath to say no to single-use plastic produce bags.

The Swag has a unique patented three-layer design to help keep fruit and vegetables fresher for longer. The inner layer provides a dryer protection layer. The middle layer is thicker and holds moisture, allowing the fresh produce to breathe and hydrate. While the outer layer helps to keep this hydration by providing protection. The perfect environment for storing fruits and vegetables.

The Swag is now available online and in our four Brisbane stores. If you are located in Brisbane, pop into one of our stores (Brisbane City, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, Paddington or Balmoral), and we will show you in person how this product works.

The Swag produce storage bag starter pack includes 2 x small Swags , 1 x long Swag, 1 x large Swag. Purchase The Swag starter pack here >

    Looking After The Swag

When you first receive your Swags, wash them separately, inside out with a natural laundry liquid or powder. Add half a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle to remove any residue. Dry inside out in full sun, and make sure your Swags are completely dry before using. Wash your used Swags as needed, or roughly every two weeks.
