How Biome Staff Are Paying It Forward And Staying Sustainable This Festive Season

Here at Biome, we understand that the festive season sometimes comes hand in hand with unsustainable practices, and our staff are sharing their tips on how they combat this trend over the festive season. We also believe that Christmas is a time to give to our families and loved ones, but also to those in need, have a scroll through to find out a few ways we are paying it forward this festive season.

How are you going to make your celebrations a little more sustainable this year?

“Our Christmas tree is a branch that we go forage for. Finding the perfect shape is half the fun and we dress it with homemade decorations and a few second hand goodies.”

 

How are you going to make your celebrations a little more sustainable this year?

“Not over cooking and wasting food. Buying my presents from Biome!”

Ways you will be giving back/paying it forward this festive season?

"I love to donate gifts to Kmart wishing tree or similar charities."

Ways you will be giving back/paying it forward this festive season?

“Volunteering at my local homeless shelter each year. Each Christmas, I spend my day with those less fortunate. My local Community centre runs a Christmas day feast for those in the community who cant afford it or simply have no one to spend Christmas with. There is no judgement and it feels so warm and loving. I bring joy to everyone by face painting, creating laughs and big smiles which is what Christmas is all about. I love being involved with my community.”

How are you going to make your celebrations a little more sustainable this year?

“With my family and friends, we are doing Secret Santa-style gift giving to reduce the amount of presents bought per person. This means that we can contribute more money to the singular gift, making it more beneficial and reducing the risk of receiving a gift that will not be used.”

Ways you will be giving back/paying it forward this festive season?

“I like to donate clothes, gifts or food to our local Christmas food drives.”

How are you going to make your celebrations a little more sustainable this year?

“Using metal straws for drinks.”

Ways you will be giving back/paying it forward this festive season?

“We will attend mass at our local church and donate money towards their charities this Christmas.”

How are you going to make your celebrations a little more sustainable this year?

“We will do our best to be waste free and use Unpaper Towels for all the spills!”

“Drop off some toys and books my kids no longer use/read!”

“Using produce bags to wrap gifts - its wrapping and practical at the same time.”

“Creating a fundraiser to raise money to buy walking canes for vision impaired children to walk to school through Vision Australia.”

   

How are you going to make your celebrations a little more sustainable this year?

"I am known to be one of "those" people who asks to keep everyone elses wrapping paper and I re-use it the following year."

Ways you will be giving back/ paying it forward this festive season?

"I have made sure to book in to donate plasma at my local blood bank. I will also donate some non-perishable foods - it is so easy these days as most supermarkets have a collection point."
