The world's first certified, fully biodegradable and compostable plastic bags.

Roll of 25 bags. Dimensions of bag: 60cm long x 51cm wide. Suitable for commercial and domestic use.

Other 'degradable' plastic bags on the market are polyethelene bags with a percentage of plant starch or additives. Degradable bags break down into pieces of plastic debris that do not compost.

To avoid misleading claims and be sure that the bags you purchase will actually biodegrade rapidly and safely, look for independent certification. Our bags are fully certified to EU OK Compost and US standards to be 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable. They contain no polyethylene.

Interesting info about these bags:

  • Completely biodegrade after 10 - 45 days depending on the method used — compared with 50 or more years for normal plastic bags;
  • A better choice for rubbish, because normal plastic bags slow the natural process of the rubbish biodegrading;
  • The bags 'breathe', reducing the weight of the by up to 25% in 5 days. Ideal for collecting food waste for composting as they reduce smells, stop mould growth and the waste dries out making it easier to compost or worm.
  • Certified by the Biodegreable Products Institute (BPI) and DIN CERTCO;
  • Made of a material called Mater-Bi, which consists of cornstarch, biodegradable and compostable polyester and vegetable oil.

Please remember, these bags still need to be responsibly disposed of in your rubbish.

Made in Norway.

Good but no handles

Happy with our purchase in terms of it being an environmentally friendlier substitute. These bags were a little small for our bin which made keeping it in place awkward. They also don't have handles which is tricky when it comes to trying to tie it up. Had a bag or two develop a hole and had to do a quick run to the outside bin.

Great bags!

Great alternative to plastic bags. Durable enough for my household waste!

Bio bags

We have completely swapped all plastic bags with these bags now. I have used this bag as a bin liner for 5 months now and it seems a good enough alternative to plastic grocery bags I used to use. I also purchased a smaller bag that we use for cat litter (paper pellets) and waste and it can hold a fair bit of weight. I am usually cautious with filling the 30 L bag right to the top especially with anything really heavy or bulky in case it might tear but it hasn’t so far. (Most of our rubbish is small things that can’t be recycled or food waste) But I try to be careful as once when putting it down the rubbish chute it caught on the door latch and tore easily. In comparison some plastic garbage bags are just as fragile even more so. Also note the bag does seem slightly porous so it won’t completely stop smells and moisture from going through. To add to that the bag does have a particular smell but it doesn’t bother me too much I only notice it when I open the cupboard under the sink where the bin resides, being a smell sensitive person others may not notice it. I am considering next time buying the type with handles as I struggle to tie this bag when it is really full but I am already pretty happy with these.
