Replacement filter for our Stoneware Fluoride Reduction Water Purifier only.

Removes 99.75%* of fluoride inexpensively and efficiently.

you are making a difference:

  • Home filtration systems are a great alternative to buying bottles of filtered water - cheaper and better for the environment!
  • Great in conjunction with our large selection of reusable bottles.

features:

  • While reverse osmosis and distillation remove fluoride very well, they are expensive, as well as being water and energy inefficient. Another good way to reduce fluoride is a simple filter with a cartridge containing activated alumina (not the same compound as aluminium) like this one. Unlike reverse osmosis and distillation this filter does not remove healthful minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, and does not leave the water tasting “flat”.
  • This filter is known as a post filter fluoride reduction element or PF-4 filter manufactured by New Millennium Concepts, manufacturers of Berkey Water Filters.
  • Designed for use in conjunction with our Super Sterasyl™ ceramic filtration elements to adsorb the unwanted elements commonly found in drinking water: MTBE (Methyl-tertiary-butyl-ether, the most common oxygenated fuel additive used in reformulated gasoline), fluoride, lead, arsenic, DBCP (Dibromo-chloro-propane), THMs, (trihalomethanes), herbicides, pesticides and heavy metal ions.
  • Manufactured to exceed ANSI/NSF Standard 53 which requires that MTBE be reduced by at least two thirds from an influent rate (water going in) of 15ppb to an effluent rate (water going out) of less than 5ppb (> 95% reduction).
  • Testing for fluoride was based on 20-30ppm of the ion in the influent aqueous solution at a flow rate of no more than 3 gpm (11 lpm) per cubic foot of media. Results of < 1ppm of the fluoride ion in the effluent were typical for the media (>95% reduction). Under optimum conditions, effluent concentrations of less than 50 ppb were readily achieved (>99.75% reduction).
  • Tests have shown that when 2000 gallon (7,600 liters) of influent water at a concentration of lead of 150-200 ppb pass through 200 grams of media at a flow rate of 1 gpm (3.8 lpm), the lead level was reduced to less than 1ppb (>99% reduction).
  • Under normal conditions it is recommended that PF-4 filters be replaced at six-month intervals (actual capacity is dependent on the presence of other competing contaminants in the source water).
  • Filters with activated alumina are popular and they are most often used in conjunction with a carbon filter since activated alumina alone does little for the water except remove fluoride and arsenic. It does not improve the taste or remove other chemical contaminants, cysts and bacteria but by using it with a carbon filter an excellent broad range water filter is available at a very affordable price as you see in the Fluoride Reduction purifier we offer.
  • Available as a replacement to our stoneware fluoride reduction purifier ONLY. Not compatible with our small, slimline and large purifers.
