Earthpaste is a clay based natural toothpaste with minimal ingredients.

you are making a difference:

  • Contains NO: synthetic colour & synthetic fragrances, paraffins & petroleum products, and synthetic preservatives.
  • Choosing skincare that does not contain petrochemicals or synthetic ingredients is better for you and the environment.

  • No glycerin
  • No fluoride
  • Safe to swallow
  • No foaming agents

Purified Water, Food Grade Redmond Clay, Xylitol, Peppermint Essential Oil, Menthol, Redmond Real Salt, Tea Tree Oil.

Please note that it does state on the packaging that it may contain lead and is not suitable for children.

Why it may contain lead:  Prop 65 : California lawmakers decided the public needs to know if their water supply contains toxic chemicals. So they compiled a list of 900 substances and required any business using the substances to proclaim the use publicly.  The way prop 65 is enforced has created a defensive business strategy: infringements can cost businesses $2,500 per day, and nearly all cases are reported by citizens motivated to earn as much as 25% of that fee by “blowing the whistle,” as it were.  So when you see a prop 65 warning sign, the business might be using toxic chemicals, or they simply might have decided it’s cheaper to hang a few signs than fight the civil lawsuits that prop 65 law firms might bring.

Tiny amounts of lead are in our planet’s water, soil, and air. Alone, lead molecules pose health risks. When bonded with other elements and compounds, which is the case with Redmond Clay, the bond is too strong for our bodies to break. Any bonded lead leaves the natural way, still bound to the same molecules as when we ingested it.

Earthpaste is one of many completely natural products that contains lead — though much less than the amount defined as safe by Proposition 65.

Here are some interesting comparisons that show the amount of lead in some of these natural products.

  • Fresh collard greens: 30 micrograms of lead (50x higher than prop 65 stipulates)
  • Dry roasted mix nuts: 20 mcg of lead
  • Brussels sprouts: 15 mcg of lead
  • Sweet potatoes: 16 mcg of lead
  • Spinach: 15 mcg of lead

In each use of Earthpaste, you would expect 6 mcg of lead — five times less than in collard greens

Title : Happy with it
Comment : Good toothpaste. Loved the flavour. Was good for gums. Just a bit worried about the warning on the back that says may contain lead, I'm sure it's just a precaution but still...
