Made from MOSO bamboo, a plant cellulose fibre, this Bamboo Toothbrush handle will biodegrade in compost landfill.

Listing is for one small bamboo toothbrush only.

Invented by a Brisbane dentist, The Environmental Toothbrush is a simple solution to reducing the 30 million plastic toothbrushes that are used and disposed of each year in Australia. (Please note: hard plastics that are not containers such as toys and toothbrushes can not be recycled through household recycling programs.)

*About the bristles: The bristles are made from Nylon 6 and thus this toothbrush is not 100% plastic free nor 100% biodegradable.  For those seeking a completely plastic-free brush, the only option is animal hair bristle. It is not possible to make a bristle from 100% bamboo or plant oil (there will be some amount of petrochemical binder).  Before composting, remove the bristles and place in your bin.

you are making a difference:

  • Bamboo is renewable timber that grows rapidly without pesticides - rather than a plastic handle made from non-renewable, polluting petrochemicals.
  • Reduce the amount of non-biodegradable plastic entering landfills each year.  At the end of its life, the bamboo toothbrush handle will biodegrade into your garden soil or compost (first remove the bristles and place in bin).

features:

  • Heat-treated to carbonise the surface of the bamboo providing water-resistance and preventing the growth of microbes.
  • Bristles made from a synthetic Nylon 6 resistant to microbial growth during normal use.
  • Packaged in recycled cardboard box.

Available in three styles - adult soft, adult medium and child's soft, plus charcoal toothbrush bristles.

Title : Great Eco toothbrush for children
Comment : My children have just used these again recently. We had tried them a while ago but found that for really young children/toddlers the toothbrush head was a little big for them to fit in their mouth and they did not hold onto the handle very well. Now our children are a little older they find them better now and are happy to use them. We also love that they are such an eco toothbrush.

Title : Great eco upgrade to standard toothbrushes
Comment : My toddler soon uses these wooden toothbrushes and we think they are great. We need to replace them about every 2 months as the bristles start to spread out of the original head shape. Apparently they were created by a Brisbane dentist, which is cool.
