Contains potent antioxidants (Green Tea and Grape Seed) and key anti-aging ingredients (Shea butter, Jojoba and Silicon Dioxide), ecō BODY delivers moisturising and nourishing properties to maintain the hydration of the skin.

Using a non whitening zinc oxide (20%), ecō FACE is a daily UV moisturising skin lotion that delivers excellent broad spectrum protection from the sun’s harsh rays and environmental exposure. For adults and children of all ages, children under 6 months consult a physician.

To protect the environment and your health, Biome’s philosophy is to try to reduce any unnecessary ingredients (particularly those that are petroleum based, synthetic and known environmental toxins) where there are effective natural alternatives.

Directions: Apply 30 minutes before exposure to sunlight. Re-apply every 1-2 hours or after swimming, excersise or excessive perspiration.

Active ingredients:  Zinc oxide 20%

Inactive ingredients:  Purified Water (Aqua), Isoamyl Laurate, Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride, Sorbitan Stearate, Sucrose Cocoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Seed Extract*, Rosa Canina (Rosehips) Seed Oil*, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract*. *Certified Organic

More on the ingredients:

  • Zinc Oxide (ndm) is one of the highest quality Zincs available and offers astringent and antiseptic properties that absorbs solar radiation and soothes the skin.  See note below on nanoparticles.
  • The combined natural oils lock in moisture and replenish the skin, while preventing and reducing the signs of ageing.

*TGA – Therapeutic Goods Administration. All sunscreens sold in Australia are regulated by the TGA and must comply with their standards for the SPF rating.

ECO Logical Skin Care achieved a no “1″ ranking in the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep sunscreen rankings (http://breakingnews.ewg.org/2012sunscreen/). This is the highest ranking given by the EWG. The EWG scrutinizes all sorts of personal care products, evaluates them and then ranks them according to each product’s level of safety in regards to the ingredients in their formulas.

What about Nanoparticles?

Please note that this natural sunscreen does not claim to be "nanoparticle free".  We stock this product because it does not contain harmful synthetic chemical ingredients.  There is much debate as to whether nanoparticles are harmful, and uncertainty about what constitutes a "nano particle" (particularly because there is no regulatory definition of the claim).  We are following the assessment of two independent organisations.  We present the information so that you can make an informed choice.

Environmental Working Group (EWG) states:  "Zinc oxide is EWG’s first choice for sun protection. It is stable in sunlight and can provide greater protection from UVA rays than titanium oxide or any other sunscreen chemical approved in the U.S. (Schlossman 2005). Years ago, zinc oxide sunscreens, often seen on lifeguards’ noses, were famously white and chalky. Today, sunscreen makers use zinc oxide nanoparticles to formulate lotions with less white tint.

A number of companies sell products advertised as “non-nano” titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. These claims are generally misleading. While particle sizes vary among manufacturers, nearly all would be considered nanomaterials under a broad definition of the term, including the definition proposed in 2011 by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA 2011b).

The use of nanoparticles in cosmetics poses a regulatory challenge because the properties of nanoparticles may vary tremendously, depending on their size, shape, surface area and coatings. We don’t know everything we would like to know about their performance because manufacturers are not required to disclose the qualities of the particles used in their sunscreens.

More research and more specific FDA guidelines are essential to reduce the risk and maximize the sun protection of mineral sunscreens. Yet even with the existing uncertainties, we believe that zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are among the best choices on the American market.

See the article here http://www.ewg.org/2015sunscreen/report/nanoparticles-in-sunscreen/

Choice Australia states:  The weight of evidence is clear. There's more risk from not using sunscreen than there is from using it, whether or not it contains nanoparticles. Not using sunscreen can increase your risk of skin cancer, while using it may result in nanoparticles sitting on the surface of your skin (helping to protect you from UV radiation), but they aren't absorbed into your body. Nevertheless, consumers should still be able to choose nano-free sunscreens if they want, and we want products containing nanoparticles to be labelled accordingly. Title : Great product!
Comment : This product is so good. Applies well. Feels lovely. Not sticky. Not greasy or poly. It looks and feels like the common supermarket brands without the nasties.

Title : I really like this sunscreen
Comment : I can't tell the difference between this and some of the mainstream brands. It has a nicer smell to it and the texture is ok. You do have to rub it in a little bit as otherwise there is a slight white tinge to your skin! I have tried it in the QLD weather and it worked fine. Next stop Hawaii!

Title : Love this! Not oily, not white!
Comment : While so far the natural sunscreens I've tried have left us either white powder looking, or very oily, this one is perfect! It's neither of those and I feel safe that we are not using toxic products. Love it!

Title : A real winner
Comment : This sunscreen is the best I've tried. Have bought it for all the family.

Title : Review
Comment : So great to have the peace of mind of using a sunscreen (for the whole family) with no nasties! This sunscreen is quite thick and heavy on the skin. I also found it wasn't as effective in the hotter sun after the first 2 hours, so reapply sooner than conventional sunscreen. Would love a roll-on version!
