Redecker have been producing quality artisan hand-crafted brushes to meet both traditional and modern needs for over 75 years.

These traditional wooden clothes pegs are a great sustainable alternative to plastic pegs, which are often found washed up on beaches after falling off the line and flushed down storm water drains into the sea. Line drying clothes & linens also helps to preserve their life and colour, as well as conserving energy.

Made in Poland from untreated beechwood. Pack of 25 pegs, each peg measures 10.5cm.

you are making a difference:

  • Third generation family business specialising in hand-crafted brushes made traditionally by highly skilled blind brush makers.
  • Sustainable, natural and ethically sourced materials.

The Redecker company is one of the last producers of hand-crafted brushes in Germany. With traditional hand threading being increasingly replaced by machines there are very few people worldwide who have mastered the intracies of this craft. However, Redecker's son continues to pass on his knowledge to anyone interested, and – of course – to those who work in the Redecker brush factory.

Redecker has been family owned for over 75 years and stands for the successful combination of design, functionality and use of beautiful, sustainable wood and natural, ethically sourced fibres.  Learn more about traditional hand threading.

Title : Good plastic peg alternative!
Comment : I've heard quite a few negative comments about these pegs, but I am still using the same 5 packs of them I bought back in 2010 and they are still going strong. It's true that they do cause the occasional splinter when new, but what wooden item doesn't? My grandparents used pegs much like these all of their lives and I never heard them complaining, until brittle plastic pegs hit the market and sturdy wooden ones all but disappeared for many years. The only things I can't use these pegs for, it securing very thick items like duvets and heavy oven gloves to my washing line, but I also have a small stash of hinged wooden pegs for that purpose.

Title : Useable but not perfect
Comment : I was prepared to love these but unfortunately they didn't live up to my hopes. While the outsides are perfectly smooth the surfaces that actually hold the clothing are very roughly cut, with lots of big splinters. I had to sand each of them before I was game to actually use them on my clothes - I have no desire to poke holes in the weave or get splinters stuck in my clothes. They are functional but you can't hang anything particularly thick with them at all, and you might have to fold thin things over in order for the pegs to grip firmly. Unfortunately I could not recommend them for the intended purpose.

Title : Pegs or craft projects
Comment : I actually bought these to make little dolls out of with my children for a fun craft activity. They are perfect for this. They are good quality.
