My very favourite Aussie made thing at the moment would have to be Hightrees Estate coffee from northern NSW. It is deliciously chocolately and I have been enjoying making myself a long black or a cappucino every morning.
We love Kurrajong Kitchen Lavosh biscuits made in NSW. http://www.kurrajongkitchen.com.au/ I buy them at Coles. If you look closely in the supermarket, many of the savoury crackers are made in China and overseas. Choose Aussie made!
Oooooo – you can’t go past Green Grove Organics – chocolate coated licorice (and more) … made in Junee, NSW.
http://www.greengroveorganics.com.au/ The tour includes tasting (yuuuummmm) … and the Cafe has The Best Hot Chocolate drink ever
I love Barambah yoghurt – I used to eat the Greek one all the time, but then started using the Natural Yoghurt, and it’s my favourite now! It’s stocked in both IGA and an independent wholefoods store in my town, which is great, as I’m able to pick it up really easily while shopping. I love that it’s a QLD company too! http://www.barambahorganics.com.au/
I absolutely love Daintree Estates milk and dark chocolate blocks. Grown in the Far Nth of Qld and processed in Melbourne (I think). They are eventually going to set up processing at the Mossman Sugar Mill.
Then of course there is the home grown tea and Coffee. Nerada and various other brands for tea and Jacques, NQ Gold and Coffeeworks and various other local brands for coffee.
Mungalli biodynamic dairy has milk, cheese and yoghurt, yum. Won’t buy any other.
Vanilla Australia has organic locally grown vanilla essence. Heaps of local fruit wines. Dried mango and pineapple and lots of other stuff.
we LOVE soooo many aussie made/owned products (i try and source aussie products whenever i can) plus i love to search online for growers/farmers so i can buy direct if possible)
but a few that i love are:
daintree Tea – one of the nicest teas i have tasted and anyone who comes to my place and has a cup of tea has commented on the tea – grown on the daintree and is grown without the use of insecticides or fungicides
and auswana coffee (D’Aguilar Range in South East Queensland) and is a “Clean & Green” product and is guaranteed insecticide, pesticide, and G.M. free;
and also love Barambah organics and Ivyhome (both organic dairy products);
and most recently bought some beautiful organic garlic online from Angelica organic farm ( better stop here or i will write for ages on this
We always try to shop locally and BD Farms in Paris Creek SA employs bio-dynamic dairy produce with no GM, no UHT and no Hormones. Another fav is the Alexandrina Cheese Company in Mt Jagged SA where delicious hand made cheeses are produced and sometimes my husband and I go there for a sumptuous lunch of a selection of their wonderful cheeses accompanied by a delicious coffee or an old fashioned milkshake made from their lovely creamy milk. BD Farms and Alexandrina Cheese products are readily available in SA.
Now please don’t be mad at me for bringing this delicious guiltless yumness towards your attention, but may I suggest Pana Chocolate? http://www.panachocolate.com They are 100% Australian and lovingly handmade in Melbourne. Pana are a healthy version of our beloved chocolate treat (yes, healthy!) filled to the brim with organic goodness. The Raw Cacao and Orange are my favourites and a little goes a long way, I’ve found it to be quite fulfilling!
I also adore the brand Loving Earth http://www.lovingearth.net – another Melbourne brand – they have a decadent range of products including the latest and healthiest “super foods” – you simply cannot go past their Coconut Butter – it has a subtle, creamy flavour and can be used for internal and external benefits. The customer service is exquisite too, but us Australians are known for our friendliness, so not surprising…
I love Fountain Sauces and Marinades. Good quality, price and great taste!
I love Bellmere Honey. We buy it from our local markets. They also refill containers at a reduced price if you take them back for a top up. Such an environmentally friendly idea!
A huge thumbs up to ALL businesses who are committed to being Australian made as it’s certainly not the cheapest or easiest route to take these days, but I’d especially like to mention a couple of clothing labels because let’s face it, Australian made garments are few and far between! Two of my favourites are Pure Pod http://purepod.com.au/ who make gorgeous sustainable women’s fashion, and organic children’s label Master & Miss http://www.masterandmiss.com.au. Yay Aussies!!!
I just bought the Beauty and the Bees Baby Bottom Balm, which is amazing. My last tub lasted a year. Starting young on natural and Australian made. Their shampoo bars are brilliant also, no nasty chemicals, no plastic packaging, no need for conditioners.
I love my Chuck and Taz reversible pram liner! Made by an Aussie mum, she uses cute designer fabrics and also makes pram sleeping bags now! http://www.chuckandtaz.com
I love Highlands Organics!! Especially, their natural yoghurt which is made with un-homogenised organic milk – seriously dreamy.
Do our freshly laid chicken eggs count?
Our family, due to Dad’s condition, have started to embark on a gluten free journey. So now shopping has become finding Australian made and gluten free goodies and I’m surprised that the range is really wide. We love Carman’s Cereal’s as they have a gluten free muesli and they are Aussie made. We also have have a local distributor for sauces called Emelia’s as finding a gluten free Worcestershire sauce was nigh on impossible.
Carman’s Oats
Melinda’s Gluten Free Range. Tasty and gluten free!!
For me it is any Davroe hair product. I particular love their blonde range as it protects my blonde highlights from uv rays and colour-fading. And the fact that it is a cruelty-free product made here in Australia is just fantastic!
Love Dick Smiths crunchy peanut butter, yummy.
Let the Aussie wine flow free!
Haigh’s Chocolate has to be #1 on my list. So creamy and delicious PLUS my friends Dad works there, so a little discount makes it so much more affordable. Because lets face it, it is quite expensive
Darrell Lee Licorice! Love it – especially the red one.
I’ve just made a salad with a holiday indulgence cheese bought from a fresh produce store where I spend my summer holidays. Yarra Valley Dairy marinated Persian Fetta cheese which tastes amazing, has a delightful oil to be used as a dressing when the cheese is all gone and comes in a sweet little tin. Koko Black and Chocolatier for chocolates! For an Australian bathroom I’d choose Aura Natural Skin Care products which are natural, easy to use and smell good alongside Jack N Jill toothpaste which my husband recalls using as a kid on a trip to QLD (he also says it tastes much better now). There’s also Lambykins wool blankets for the kids and St Albans mohair blankets for everyone else. Wrap Co / Inky Co for wrapping paper and stationery beautifully designed and printed in Australia. They are also making a move to soy ink. I did keep thinking of great New Zealand products at first, but then the Aussie ones I like started flowing and I better stop there.
Haigh’s Chocolates!
Most weekends (not if raining) I hit the local, and sometimes not-so-local, Farmers and Craft Markets. I am always purchasing fresh fruit and veg, soaps, candles, sweets, etc Love that I can talk face to face with the makers of these Aussie items.
Australian wine is just divine!
Driza-Bone coats
My favourite Australian product is Silver Seed Jewellery, a little jewellery stall at our local markets. The products are AMAZING!
There are so many! But I’d have to say… my favourites are the eggs from our friends “urban farm” and the produce from our Sunday farmers market. It doesn’t get much better!
