Be starstruck by KeepCup’s new range (+ chance to win!)

We’re over the moon that this Aussie company has progressed in leaps and bounds. Choosing to reuse has never looked so out-of-this-world.
Above: From KeepCup’s new Cosmic Sky range, from left to right, 1. Sunlight, 2. Sunrise, 3. Dew, 4. Eventide, 5. Illuminance, 6. Aurora, 7. Dawn, 8. Midnight, 9. Starlight, 10. Twilight.
Cosmic Sky is the new Keep Cup Colour story for 2013. Each stunning new colour combination is inspired and named after happenings in the sky and beyond. Back on Earth, the range was recently launched at a KeepCup Pop Up during the London Design Festival.
If you’ve not heard of the Australian-small business led reusable coffee cup revolution that is KeepCup (have you been living on Mars?), we’ll get you up to light speed. Designed and made in Australia, these barista standard reusable cups are made from a BPA free plastic and provide an alternative to disposable cups. They are also dishwasher safe.
It is estimated that in as little as 15 uses of a KeepCup, the environmental impact breaks even with disposable cups (including cleaning). After this, it is good to discover they have been tested to 1000 uses! So every time you replace a disposable cup by using a KeepCup you are reducing your impact.
It may seem like a small thing, but it adds up. It’s worth noting that 500 billion disposable cups are made globally each year (about 75 disposable cups for every person on the planet). Very little recycled paper goes into making disposable cups because of contamination concerns. Because most disposable cups are coated with plastic, both composting and recycling of disposable cups is uncommon.
Speaking of paper and plastic. Half of the plastic used in the world today is for single use items, and most of the world’s paper supply, in fact about 71%, still comes from diminishing forests, not tree farms or the recycling bin. Not to mention that 98 tonnes of resources are used to make 1 tonne of paper. All good information to keep in mind when using a KeepCup (compared to a disposable paper cup, including coffee, sees a 36-47% reduction in global warming, 64-85% reduction in water use, and a 91-92% reduction in landfill waste annually).

WINNER ANNOUNCED: Congratulations to Carrie W. Thanks to all for your brilliant entries, we loved reading them all!

I love all of them!!! But particularly Sunrise and Twilight! I would love to win them. I looove my Keep Cups – there are 7 of us in our family and we have (at least) one each – but we love being able to swap them all around to make new and fun colour combinations. Coffee in a Keep Cup is so much nicer than tasting the awful plastics in the lids disposable cups. And the fact they’re so light and easy to carry around means I can keep one in my handbag and don’t forget to use it!
It’s hard to choose but I think Aurora and Sunrise are the colours I’d like to win. Keep Cups are such an easy way to have a positive environmental impact and they don’t get too hot to handle
Love Eventide and Dawn, almost elvish in their beauty. Coffee is my “thang”
Carrying it around with me in colours I enjoy would be bliss. Am so over disposable cups or boring silver thermos mugs. These are on my Christmas list!
Hi! I love the Dawn and Twilight ones. I have one Keep Cup. I used to have 2 but left one at the movies once
So disappointed that I lost it but hope that someone else has taken it and is enjoying the awesomeness of a Keep Cup! They are funky, light and super eco friendly. I love them.
Gorgeous colours!! I really like the Dew and Eventide colourways
My mum is already a huge fan of Keep Cups, so I’ve used them a few times at her place! My mum gave us her ‘old’ coffee machine – it makes great coffee so I would love some Keep Cups of our own so hubby could take a nice coffee in the car on the way to work in the mornings!
I love how light they are to carry and reuse -I have a ceramic travel cup and its so heavy compared! I would love a ‘sunlight’ and a ‘dawn’
My keep cup is in the many hands of a German hostel being kissed by international guests. I can only hope a person has cupnapped it and treating it well. I loved it and lost it. I would love to have a Midnight and a Sunrise just to be romantic.
I would love to win the Eventide and Aurora. I haven’t seen these before but would love to try anything that helps the environment. I’m always on the run with the kids so this will be a great addition to our family.
I loooooove the idea of a re-usable coffee/tea cup I have tried many before but have been most disappointed with all of them as they either leak or have a very small base and topple easily. I adore the “Dew”: and “Eventide” colours….ohhh its soo hard, they are all beautiful! I could pop one in my handbag and when out shopping would much rather use a re-usable cup than “:buying” a disposable one every time, its such a waste of resources….I always take my own re-usable water bottle every time I go anywhere so this would be totally awesome!
I was in hospital recently and had an IV attached, when it was taken out the nurse put a bandaid on the spot. It turned out that my skin reacted to the bandaid, and I asked the nurse if she could take it off, as I couldn’t do it. She bought out a pair of super sharp stainless steel scissors and carefully cut the bandaid off my skin. Then she asked if I had any use for the scissors! I laughed, thinking here was a hidden joke. No, it turns out they use SINGLE USE stainless steel scissors. One snip of a bandaid and in the bin. Shocked me to bits. What are we thinking when the resources and cost of making new items is cheaper than washing (and sterilising) current ones?
I don’t need a Keep Cup, as I don’t drink or buy coffee or tea, but I certainly hope that people think twice about single-use disposable cups and their impact on our world!
sunrise and aurora appeal to our kids who love using mum’s keep cup!
nothing happens when click the follow button… i would love to win these for christmas presents. our family does a kris kringle where the gift has to be made or won. i would make something to go in them. perfect
Hey there Shellie. I think that you might have already been following the blog, or managed to enter your details in order to follow our blog posts, as your information is in our subscriber list.
Dew and Illuminance my favourite colours (green for the trees & blue for the ocean) will remind me why it is so important for our environment to encourage everyone to use keep cups, I want to give these to friends who need to be converted.
I love Eventide and Twilight!! I’d love to win one of these because I’ve been wanting one for so long but never had the money! Plus, I’m a uni student – one of these ALWAYS comes in handy and sometimes means discounts on drinks!!
I would love sunrise and dawn if i was lucky enough to win, I love the idea of reusable cups in fun colours
I’d love to win Eventide for my husband and Twilight for me! I love my keepcup so much, I use it everday to drink my green smoothie in the car on the way to work then use it for a coffee when I get to work, I work in a hospital around babies and for safety reasons our cups must have lids, the staff cafeteria has disposable cups with plastic lids that are so wasteful! My husband needs a keepcup because he spends a lot of his worktime in a car and the keepcup would be perfect for his green smoothie and coffee too!!
A hard choice, but Midnight and Dew pop for me.
I have one cup that never left my side during my thesis writing months this year – mainly because of its spill-free superpower whenever my sleep deprived mind would knock it over my work.
It also saves me money too! My barista, who is actively aware of the horror stories of disposables, offers a generous discount to Keep Cup users (she also remembers my order by the colour of my cup!) – so I keep mine ready to go in my bag before I leave home.
Dew and Starlight!
I’ve been a long time fan of keep cups. My partner and I both used them at at local cafe and the barista got to know us because we ‘BOOC’ Brought our own cups.
Now we have a baby, I like to use them around the house, because the hot liquids feel safer in a keep cup.
I love sunrise and aurora. Sunrise is the cup I bought for my one and only (but fabulous) employee, and she uses it constantly, and its always cheers me to see its bright colours on her desk.
I love using them because when we go to our local cafe, they don’t need to ask for our names – when our orders are ready, they simply call out ‘keep cups’. We get our coffee, and the keep cup brand gets advertised to all the people queing for their coffees!
Lastly, I also have a biome-branded keep cup, which makes me wonder whether that is something that keep cup can do for others? If so, they would make great Christmas gifts for my clients. Do you know how I would go about contacting them to ask?
These new colours give me good reason to increase my KeepCup stash (6? 7? I’ve lost count). What I love about these cups is that when you drink coffee out of them, you just feel like the coffee takes centre stage!! I’ve also found the smallest size perfect for Babycinnos. So one for me, and one for my son! Perfect!!
Sunrise and Twilight are my favourite colours in this range but the idea of keeping them in various funky colours is fantastic. I especially love them as i can take it to class with me and refill during the day – and save money – a bonus for any student especially us mature aged students.
Sunlight and sunrise are my two picks – happy bright cups that no one can miss! With others checking them out, it offers conversations and suggestions about landfill, waste, recycling and making conscious choices.
I love these cups and have purchased a few as gifts – it would be great to give a couple more to folk keen to reduce their own footprint.
Sunrise and midnight. I love my keep cup – I can take one from home to work and then get my midmorning fix at the coffee shop over the road. All without using a single use item! Bring on the caffeine delirium – i am gunna need it to get through to holidays!
I would love Eventide and Twilight for hubby and me,
we are big fans of drinking coffee and tea.
A Keep Cup would be great for us,
and eliminate the need and wastage of disposable cups.
What’s more these cups look stylish and cool,
and would keep drinks at a good temperature too.
Hi guys – I’d love to win Illuminance and Aurora please! I already have an awesomely fabulous keepcup, but I’d love to win some for my flatmates and get them in on the act too please! And right in time for Christmas – yay!
Eventide and Twilight would be my pick! The Keep Cups sound fantastic – long-lasting, resuable, sustainable and embrace the love for coffee!!
They’d also be a wonderful talking point amongst mothers and workers at the local cafe
I like the Aurora and Twilight colours, as they match the colour of my car, one for me and one for my husband,to fit in the two cup holders, great when we are travelling.
My favourite colours are Illuminance and Twilight. I think they will be perfect for upcoming road trips with early starts. A nice homemade coffee and hot chocolate on a pre-dawn ride is an excellent way of breaking in the KeepCups!
I’m loving Sunrise and Aurora! You’ve come up with some really pretty colour combinations. Keep up the good work
.
I would love to win Midnight and Starlight. I love to go out at night and look up at the night sky, at the Southern Cross, Pisces, Andromeda and Orion. My place in the cosmos seems insignificant and yet I can still make a difference in helping to preserve our wonderful world. Every little step – using keep cups, recycling – all help to reduce my carbon footprint and help to ensure that future generations will also know and experience the wonder of creation.
I would really like the sunlight and dew ones to give to two coffee-loving friends. I don’t drink takeaway coffee but would love to help make someone else’s coffee-drinking a bit less hard on the planet.
I love the Twilight and Aurora colours…though they are all gorgeous! As a mummy of 2 young children I seem to spend large amounts of time sitting at places waiting for them…with a cuppa in hand. Swimming lessons, ballet, drama, park play dates, bike riding with Daddy. I like to take my own cup of tea with me but gee I reckon it would taste even better out of something so beautiful (& Australian & environmantally friendly!)
My husband has a Keep Cup and when I can pinch it I love using it. It definitely feels great to avoid adding to landfill whenever I need a caffeine hit!
I love them all but I think my faves are Illuminance and Starlight.
Eventide and Aurora would find a welcome home here! We love our espressos and lattes in our household and there are never enough KeepCups around to keep up with demand! They are a perfect match for our Rocket Giotto and an essential part of our everyday routine!
I would like the Illuminance and the Aurora. I like the fact they are made in Australia and BPA free.
I like midnight and illuminance. A KeepCup would be great for keeping the coffee warm while running around after the toddler. No more cold coffee for me!
Sunrise and Dew are my favourites, and very apt names because, with three children under five, we are often up very, very early in the morning, and coffee is our friend! xK
I carry a ceramic mug with me wherever I go. I refuse to use disposable cups. Sunrise and Twilight would be perfect for me as they are my favourite times of the day. I would leave one at work and carry the other with me at all times. If I don’t win the precious cups, then I hope the winner enjoys them for a long time xxx
Sunrise and Twilight are my absolute favourite KeepCups. I detest the after-taste of polystyrene cups and the wastage of anything disposable. The fact that they are dishwasher safe is wonderful. And I love that they are designed and made in Australia!
The colours that appeal to me are Evantide for my husband and Midnight for myself. I would love to win these keep cups because I’m very passionate about recycling and re-using products. Using these keep cups from home to the car and around the office can really inspire other folk that re-using is an easy and rewarding experience. Oh, and being able to put the keep cups into the dishwasher is a great option!
I would love to win the Twilight and the Midnight KeepCups, the colours are brilliant and show that being green doesn’t always mean looking green! Before I had my bubba, I had no idea about the importance of BPA free products and this is just one of the reasons I would love to use them
I already love using my KeepCup at home and out taking bubs for a stroll to the park…. I love the sunlight and sunrise colour combinations. So cheerful and happy… Who doesn’t like that!?
I’m yet to try one of these cups. Only recently becoming a mum, the outings to various coffee shops are a treat that keep me sane. A Keep Cup would be a nice way to indulge and feel good about doing something positive for the environment and my daughter. My favourite cups: Sunrise and Dew.
Followed!
I LOOOVEEEEEEEE coffee! I love it so much I dont even have sugar in it! I only like to buy brewed coffee because the instant stuff is processed which is bad for you! I try to be healthy in everyway. Eating well (although a litle sugary treat always finds me! Lol) drinking healthy no soft drinks! No juice! I try to clean my house healthy and good for the environment. I have a front loader, I use enviro friendly detergent. I am having a baby and bought Modern Cloth nappies! Although I cant drink coffee while pregnant I will be drinking it again every day to make as it is my special treat that makes my day start great after baby is born and after breast feeding is over
I love Starlight and Aurora. I already have a keep cup but have used it so much it’s starting to get a little worn. Besides, I love the new colours!
I like all of the cosmic sky range but would love sunrise and midnight. Have coffee everday so 100% support Australian made, BPA free and saving our environment definitely worth getting behind this business.
Congratulations to Carrie W. who was lucky to be drawn by random number generator as the winner of this competition. Thanks to all for your wonderful entries!
