Re-Play tableware products are made in the USA from recycled plastic milk bottles .. really!
How the process works: empty milk jugs and other recycling items are taken away from the kerbside recycling, flattened, then sorted and the appropriate plastic milk containers selected. They are ground into flakes, which are thoroughly cleaned, dried and color sorted. Then the little flakes are melted and made into pellets for shipping to our molder. The recycled pellets are mixed with a batch of colorant pellets, then magically molded into each Re-Play item.
Recycling has a smaller carbon footprint! Recycling saves energy, water, resources and landfill space, and reduces pollution.
In 2010 in the USA, only 28% of all HDPE containers were recycled. Encourage your children to recycle and talk to them about why you love Re-Play tableware.
Re-play producst are made from recycled HDPE, which is #2 plastic, and is BPA free, Phthalate Free, PVC free.
According to the Healthy Child Healthy World website, if you are unsure about safely using plastic items, look for the recycling codes 2, 4 or 5. Recycling codes 1, 3, and 6 can leach lead, bisphenol A, phthalates, and other stuff under certain circumstances. Recycling code 7 is the "Other" category. Some of these plastics are safer choices, like bioplastics such as PLA, while others can leach chemicals.
